Here is evidence of the temperatures down here. Yesterday I didn't think it was that bad but we didn't get here until around noon so I didn't get to experience the lows (it also didn't help that we slept most of the evening either) but thats later in this post. But yes, its cold here.
Adam and I had the same idea (at different times though) lets take a picture by our window. The view from our window consists of large building number 1, large building number 2, large building number 3, a parking lot, large building number 4, and so on and so on. We are on floor 20. This would scare the begeses out of a good portion of my family as they are afraid of heights, however as you can see on the post before, I was leaning on the window. Its pretty awsome.
Ok, this is friggin funny. Not something you'd typically see in Oklahoma. In this picture there are two trucks blocked in by two cars. On the other side of the smaller truck is a fence. How incredibly inconsiderate of the white car (wasn't a parking spot there) to blockthem in. If it were me I'd have them towed. However when I woke up and looked out the window I thought it was hillarious. haha.
Don't know what building this is. Adam was completely sure he knew where our hotel was, I wasn't so sure Adam hadn't left his brain in the car. So I decided to make the most of it and took a picture of the top of this building. Isn't it pretty cool. Fortunately Adam was right and we arrived safely at our hotel.
My father had convinced me they didn't have subways. So I decided to take this picture to prove him wrong. A Subway is a train underground, right? I see the train. I see its underground. Adam, yet again was RIGHT!!! I've gotta fix this soon. I will be right eventually. Thanks dad.
Ok, so here is what happened on Monday. We arrived in Chicago area about 10:45 am. We decided to drive around, which proved problematic because drivers here are totally inconsiderate, and very agressive. I was driving and I ended up snapping at Adam after he made fun of my driving. Fun OVER!!! So at that point we decided to just find our hotel and see if they'll let us check in early. Hallaluia they did. Well we carried our stuff up and much to both of our delights, there were TWO beds. YAY!!! If you book on Hotwire.com you don't get to pick how many beds there are so it was up in the air about how many beds were actually going to be in the hotel room.
So we are getting situated right, and we decided, ok, its time to park the car (we parked it at the airport for 8 dollars a day as opposed to the hotel which is 30 dollars a day). So I give the keys to Adam as not to relive the experience we had as we were coming into town. We cannot find the parking place, so Adam calls them, and we get there and park the car. They take us to the Airport, we walk what probably ended up to be about a mile, then I realized I forgot my camera in the car!!! Oops. So Adam being the good sport he is, goes back with me to get my camera. Now this doesn't seem too bad, except we had to walk the mile back, another bus trip back to the car, another bus trip back to the airport, and another mile walk back to the train place. Some time during this very lengthy jaunt, we needed to buy train tickets. So there is anote that said "cash only" seeing as how I've decided to only use my debit card, that was an issue. They had a Bank of America ATM there, so I decided to just pay the 2 dollar fee and use the atm. Well there was another sign on there (that I missed the first time) that says "does not give change" The train ticket was 12 dollars. I had a 20. There was a store, right over there, so I decided to go get change for my 20. Well I had to buy something in order to get change. So I got change and got my train ticket and off we were to go to our hotel.
Once we were on the train hunger hit both of us like a rock. So we got off of the train at one place and ate at a chinese restraunt. The food was good (the egg roll sucked but I was REALLY hungry) we were full, tired and ready to get to the hotel. (I was also carring around the pillow I forgot in the car too, which lead to alot of funny looks) So another very short train trip and a very lengthy walk (see picture above where I thought Adam had lost his mind) later, we made it back to the hotel.
At the hotel, we get settled. I brought my own blanket because Adam had informed me that they only wash the blankets once a month. Adam however has stripped his bed totally naked and brought his own sheets and pillow cases. He's a little paranoid. After fiddling around the room for a little bit Adam decided to go to the lobby and get some sort of paper that told of the local places to visit. While he was gone, I had fallen asleep on the bed, he came back and he ended up falling asleep. I woke up after he had fallen asleep. I was trying my hardest not to throw a pillow at him to wake him up. Not too much longer he had woken up though. We discussed a what the planswere for the week, and after all the dicussions we still had no plan. haha.
We both ended up falling asleep again, and that was the end of the night.
VOILA, day one. haha.
